MILL

Mill was filmed during the 2016 rice harvest in Uzgen, Kyrgyzstan. The video accompanies Sift and Rice Walkers to form a Harvest Trilogy. All three videos were filmed during that season in Central Asia. The imagery is focused, detailed and repetitive, and is limited to the drying red rice, the rice walker’s feet, and the mill with vertical smasher. The sound of dry rice crunching creates a unique sensibility that includes the landscape setting, the sunlight, and the human presence.
